4 c. sugar (Yikes there goes my waistline but worth it!) 2 c. shortening or butter or margarine 8 eggs (you could put egg substitute here to make yourself feel better about all that sugar. 2 c. Buttermilk ( if you don’t have buttermilk you can use milk with a tsp. of vinegar added-a fun experiment if you have never done this) 4 tsp. soda 10 c. flour 12 ripe bananas’ mashed with a fork How to proceed: Cream together the sugar and shortening/butter. Add the eggs and beat together well. Then alternate adding the buttermilk and flour/soda mixture until all has been incorporated. Then add your bananas. Pour into greased/floured bread pans and bake at 350 degrees. This makes 6-7 mouthwatering loaves!
I think we grew up and out on this banana bread. A staple from my youth. Enjoy.
